Product identity

The HPE JW157A AP-103H is a dual-radio wireless access point built for hospitality and multi-tenant environments. It delivers up to 300 Mbit/s per radio using 802.11n with two spatial MIMO streams.

Installation fit

The unit mounts directly to an electrical or data wall box and uses existing structured cabling. It provides two downlink switch ports, a passive pass-through RJ-45 port and a 10/100/1000BASE-T uplink, drawing power from 802.3af PoE.

Sustained behaviour

Dedicated 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz radios with integrated omni-directional antennas maintain concurrent operation in moderately dense deployments. The design minimises interference from cellular networks while serving multiple client sessions over extended periods.

Questions about this item

What wireless throughput limit does each radio hit under sustained load?

Each radio tops out at 300 Mbps using 802.11n with two spatial MIMO streams.

How much heat or noise should I expect when the AP runs continuously?

The unit has no fan and draws power through 802.3af PoE, so it runs silently with minimal heat.

Which existing cabling and power gear must be in place before mounting?

You need a Cat5e or better structured cabling run to a 10/100/1000BASE-T uplink and an 802.3af PoE source or compatible injector.
