HPE Instant On IAP-324 2.5 Gbps Access Point

The HPE Instant On IAP-324 is a wireless access point built for high-density environments. It operates on the 802.11ac standard with an aggregated data rate of 2.5 Gbps. The unit delivers 1733 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 800 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. It uses multi-user MIMO and four spatial streams to serve many clients at once.

High-density 802.11ac deployments

This access point suits offices, schools or venues where many devices connect simultaneously. Enhanced ClientMatch technology steers clients to the best available radio for optimal throughput. Buyers needing 6 GHz band operation or the 802.11ax protocol should evaluate alternative hardware lines. The Instant On management platform simplifies setup for small IT teams.

Aggregated 2.5 Gbps throughput across dual bands

The decisive specification is the combined wireless bandwidth of 2.5 Gbps split between the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz radios. This capacity determines how many concurrent users the AP can support at high speed. Verify that your wired uplink and PoE budget can sustain this throughput before purchase.

Questions about this item

What wired uplink speed does the IAP-324's 2.5 Gbit/s port need from my switch?

The IAP-324 aggregates 2.5 Gbps wireless throughput, so its single Ethernet port should connect to a 2.5 Gbit/s or faster switch port to avoid a bottleneck.

Will my older 802.11n clients slow down the 320 series AP's 4 spatial streams?

The AP uses MU-MIMO and ClientMatch to serve legacy 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz clients on their own rates while reserving 4SS capacity for newer devices.

How do I confirm the IAP-324 is delivering its rated 1733 Mbps on 5 GHz and 800 Mbps on 2.4 GHz?

In the Instant On mobile app or web portal, check the AP's live client list — connected devices should show PHY rates up to those band maxima when signal is strong.
