800 Watt PSU for Exp2512 and Exp2524

This IBM 98Y2218 power supply delivers 800 watts to compatible storage enclosures. It is built for administrators maintaining Exp2512 or Exp2524 systems who need a direct replacement module. The unit fits the designated bays without modification.

Hot-swap module with no extra cables

The supply slides into the chassis and locks in place, drawing AC power from the facility feed. No separate cables, rails or software licences are included in the package. Installers simply insert the module and secure the latch to restore redundancy.

Questions about this item

Will the fan in the 98Y2218 need replacement after long-term operation?

The 800 watt unit uses an internal cooling fan; under continuous load in an Exp2512 or Exp2524 enclosure the fan bearings are the first wear item and typically require replacement after several years of 24/7 service.

What thermal limit appears first when the 98Y2218 runs at full 800 watt output continuously?

Sustained 800 watt draw raises the internal temperature until the over-temperature protection trips, which is the first hard limit reached before any voltage rail drops out of specification.
