  • 50/125 µm core/cladding matches modern transceiver specs
  • LC duplex connectors enable simple patch-panel termination

Product identity

The Interex By Tripp-Lite N820-07M is a 7 metre duplex multimode fibre patch cable built for 10 Gb Ethernet links. It targets network engineers and integrators who need reliable short-range connectivity between switches, servers or transceivers.

Sustained operation

OM3 laser-optimised 50/125 µm fibre supports continuous 10 Gb serial transmission over extended distances without the bandwidth limits of legacy 62.5 µm cable. The aqua jacket identifies the OM3 rating for quick visual verification in dense patch panels.

Installation reality

LC/LC connectors snap into standard SFP+ or QSFP+ ports, but the glass core demands clean end-faces; any dust or oil on the ferrules will degrade the link. Bend radius must be respected during routing because tight bends fracture the fibre and cause permanent signal loss.

Questions about this item

Does the 7 m duplex OM3 cable generate any heat or draw power during continuous 10 Gb operation?

No, the passive fibre assembly carries light only and produces no heat or power draw.

What connectors must my existing equipment provide for the LC/LC ends on this 50/125 µm cable?

Both devices need LC duplex ports compatible with 50/125 µm multimode fibre.

Will the OM3 aqua jacket cable work with the 62.5 µm multimode patch panels I already have?

Mixing 50/125 µm OM3 with 62.5 µm legacy cable is not recommended because core-size mismatch increases insertion loss.
