Drive bay converter

The unit fits two 5.25 inch bays and provides three hot-swap trays for 3.5 inch SAS or SATA drives. It is aimed at server builders who need front-access storage in a standard chassis. A key lock secures each tray against accidental removal. The aluminium body acts as a heatsink with conductive dissipation grooves.

Interface bandwidth limit

Each tray supports SAS I, SAS II and SATA I, II, III at up to 6.0 Gbps. The backplane itself does not add RAID; a separate controller is required for any RAID configuration. Transfer speed will not exceed the 6.0 Gbps ceiling of the SATA III or SAS II link.

Tray capacity

Three 3.5 inch drives are the maximum the device can hold. Builders who need more than three bays must use additional enclosures. The included 70 mm fan and speed switch manage airflow for the installed drives.
