Drive-bay conversion for dense storage

The iStarUSA BPU-340SATA-KL fits three 5.25-inch bays and provides four hot-swap trays that accept 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SAS and SATA drives. A key lock on each tray secures the drives against unauthorised removal. The unit is designed for server chassis that need high drive density in a compact footprint.

Included cables and cooling aid deployment

Four SATA cables are supplied so each tray can connect directly to a host bus adapter or motherboard port. An 80 mm fan with a speed-control switch draws air through the aluminium chassis, which uses conductive dissipation grooves to spread heat. LED indicators show power, drive activity, fan status and over-temperature alerts.

Interface speed and controller dependency

The backplane passes SAS and SATA signals at up to 6.0 Gbps per port, matching the SATA III and SAS II specifications. RAID functionality is not built in; a separate RAID controller is required to configure arrays. Drives larger than 6 TB are not validated, and the tray mechanism only supports the listed SAS and SATA protocols.
