Three 5.25″ bays to five 3.5″ hot-swap bays

This cage converts three standard 5.25″ drive bays into five hot-swappable 3.5″ bays for SAS and SATA hard drives. It is designed for server builders and storage administrators who need dense, front-accessible drive arrays in a 4U or larger chassis. The aluminium chassis and conductive dissipation grooves help move heat away from the drives. An 80 mm fan provides forced airflow across the bays.

SAS/SATA 6.0 Gb/s interface and single 80 mm fan

Each bay supports SAS I/II and SATA I/II/III drives at up to 6.0 Gb/s, so the backplane does not limit the native speed of modern mechanical drives. RAID functionality requires a separate RAID controller; the cage itself only passes the signals through. Cooling relies on one 80 mm fan, so thermal headroom depends on drive count, workload and chassis airflow. The aluminium body assists conduction but cannot replace adequate case ventilation.

Verify three free 5.25″ bays, controller and power

Before ordering, confirm the chassis has three adjacent 5.25″ bays with at least 8.11″ of depth behind the front bezel. A compatible SAS or SATA host bus adapter or RAID controller must be installed to use the drives. Three SATA data cables are included; ensure the controller has enough ports. Power for the drives and the fan must come from the system power supply via standard drive power connectors.
