This active adapter converts analogue VGA output from an older desktop or laptop into a digital HDMI signal for a TV, monitor or projector. It handles video resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz with 24-bit colour depth. The unit draws power through its USB connector and includes a 3.5 mm audio jack for stereo sound.

Bundled USB and AUX cables

A micro-USB cable supplies the 5 V power the built-in conversion chip requires; it must be plugged into a computer USB port or a 5 V 1 A adapter. The 3.5 mm AUX cable carries stereo audio from the source device’s headphone output to the converter, enabling synchronised video and sound over the single HDMI link.

The converter works only in one direction: VGA source to HDMI display. Verify the computer has a VGA output and the screen accepts HDMI input. An HDMI cable for the display side is not included. The USB power lead and 3.5 mm audio lead must both be connected for the device to function.
