Extension length and connectors

This 33-foot DC extension cable carries 5.5 by 2.1 mm barrel connectors, male on one end and female on the other. The 20 AWG copper wire runs 10 metres in a black jacket. It adds distance between a power supply and any device that uses the same barrel size.

Suitable uses and limits

The cord supports up to 3 amps across a 5 to 24 volt DC range, fitting CCTV cameras, DVRs, LED strip lights, external hard drives and audio gear with matching ports. Buyers who need a different barrel diameter, a longer run, or higher current capacity should look at something else.

Deciding specification

The 5.5 by 2.1 mm barrel connector is the single detail that determines whether this cable will mate with your equipment. If your device or supply uses that exact size, the 33-foot reach and 3-amp rating will cover most standard low-voltage installations.

Questions about this item

What connector size must my power supply and camera already have for this cable to fit?

Both ends use a 5.5 x 2.1 mm barrel connector, so the power supply needs a matching female jack and the camera a matching male plug.

Can I run this 10 metre cable alongside the shorter original lead that came with my DVR without signal issues?

The cable carries only DC power up to 3 amps at 5-24 volts, so it does not interfere with video or data lines in the existing shorter lead.

How can I confirm the extension is delivering power correctly once connected?

The connected device powers on and operates normally; the 20 AWG copper conductors are rated for the full 33 foot run at the stated voltage and current.
