What this product is

The Jansicotek A0201 is a bidirectional DisplayPort 2.0 switch and splitter with two ports. It handles 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz over a 40 Gbps link. The box lets one source toggle between two displays or two sources share one display, though both outputs cannot be active at the same time.

Check before ordering

You need a DisplayPort 2.0 cable no longer than 6.6 feet for each connection. The unit requires the included USB power cable to operate reliably; without it the signal may flicker or drop out. Verify that your source and display both have female DisplayPort sockets compatible with the DP 2.0 standard. Two screens cannot show content simultaneously in splitter mode.

Thermals noise and power

The aluminium enclosure measures 5.31 by 3.11 by 0.87 inches and weighs 2.12 ounces. It draws auxiliary power through the supplied USB cable and has no internal fan, so operation is silent. Normal use produces only modest warmth from the DP 2.0 transceiver; no active cooling or additional power supply is required.

Questions about this item

Does the A0201 include the cables needed to connect two sources and one display, or must I buy DisplayPort 2.0 leads separately?

The package contains the bidirectional switch, a power charging cable and a user manual. DisplayPort cables are not included, so you will need to supply standard DP 2.0 cables (within 6.6 feet) for each connection.

Should I choose the 16K@60 Hz mode or the 4K@240 Hz mode for competitive gaming on this splitter?

The unit supports both 16K@60 Hz and 4K@240 Hz (also 8K@120 Hz, 4K@144 Hz and 1080P@240 Hz). Pick the resolution and refresh rate that matches your monitor and graphics card; the switch handles any of them up to 40 Gbps.

When the A0201 runs at its 40 Gbps headline bandwidth, will two monitors show different images at the same time?

No. In 1-in-2-out splitter mode the two displays cannot operate simultaneously; you toggle between them. In 2-in-1-out switcher mode only one source is active at a time. The 40 Gbps bandwidth applies to the single active link.
