Connect USB-C devices to DisplayPort monitors

This Jansicotek BK-CD2 cable connects a USB-C source to a DisplayPort 1.4 display. It supports 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz. The 6.6 ft length suits desk setups where the host and monitor sit apart. Builders needing a DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort link or an HDMI connection should choose a different cable.

Upgrade from older DisplayPort cables

The cable delivers 32.4 Gbps bandwidth with HBR3 rating and DSC 1.2 compression. It replaces DisplayPort 1.2 or 1.1 cables that limit 4K to 60 Hz or 2K to 144 Hz. The jump is worth it when your monitor runs 4K at 120 Hz or 144 Hz, or 2K at 165 Hz or 240 Hz. It also adds MST support for daisy-chaining compatible displays.

Check your host port and monitor input

Verify the USB-C port on your laptop, tablet or desktop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt 3 or 4. A USB-C port that only carries data or power will not drive video. Confirm the monitor has a DisplayPort 1.4 input to reach the highest refresh rates. The cable is male-to-male so no adapter is required.

Questions about this item

What USB-C port standard does the 6.6 ft cable need on the host device?

The cable works with Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as standard USB-C ports that support DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

Which end plugs in first when setting up the BK-CD2 cable?

Connect the USB-C male connector to the host device first, then attach the DisplayPort 1.4 male connector to the monitor; reversing the order can prevent the link from training correctly.

When should the triple-shielded cable be inspected or replaced?

Check the connectors and jacket after any sharp bend or crush event; replace the cable if the shielding is exposed or if 8K@60Hz or 2K@240Hz signals become unstable.
