What this converter does

The Jansicotek HDMI2SDI takes a single HDMI source and delivers it to two SDI displays simultaneously. It handles input resolutions from 480i up to 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 Hz and outputs 720p or 1080i at 50 or 60 Hz plus 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 Hz. Embedded audio travels with the video and the unit supports HDMI 1.3 and HDCP 1.3. Built-in ESD protection guards the circuitry during handling.

What to verify before ordering

Confirm your source device can output one of the listed HDMI formats such as 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz or 720p at 60 Hz. Each destination display must accept SDI at 2.970 Gbit/s for 3G-SDI, 1.485 Gbit/s for HD-SDI or the lower SD-SDI rate. Cable runs of up to 100 m for 3G-SDI, 200 m for HD-SDI or 300 m for SD-SDI are supported so plan cable lengths accordingly. The converter ships with a USB power cable but no wall adapter so ensure a suitable 5 V USB supply is available.

Behaviour under sustained load

The converter maintains the full 2.970 Gbit/s bit-rate continuously across both SDI outputs without dropping frames or degrading signal quality. ESD protection remains active during extended operation preventing electrostatic damage in studio or field environments. Because the unit draws power from a standard USB source it stays cool during long sessions and requires no external power brick. The compact 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inch metal enclosure is designed for continuous 24/7 use in broadcast editing, video conferencing or security monitoring workflows.

Questions about this item

Does the package include cables or do I need to buy HDMI and SDI cables separately?

The box contains the converter, a USB power cable and a user manual. HDMI and SDI cables are not included and must be purchased separately.

The specs list many input resolutions but only 1080p output — which resolution should I select for broadcast use?

For broadcast workflows choose 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz; the converter accepts a wide range of HDMI inputs up to 1080p@60 Hz and always outputs 1080p SDI at the selected frame rate.

What does the 2.97 Gbit/s bitrate mean when the converter is connected to a camera and two monitors?

The 2.97 Gbit/s rate is the 3G-SDI payload that carries uncompressed 1080p video and embedded audio to both SDI outputs simultaneously over distances up to 100 metres.
