What the adapter does

The Jansicotek LD140W is a male-to-female USB-C magnetic extender that carries up to 140W of Power Delivery, 20Gbps of USB 4 data and 8K video at 60Hz. It adds a breakaway magnetic joint to a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cable run, protecting the host port from accidental pulls.

Practical limits of the USB 4 link

The connection tops out at 20Gbps, so it cannot carry the 40Gbps throughput of a full Thunderbolt 4 or USB 4 Gen 3 link. The 8K 60Hz video path requires a compliant USB 4 cable on both sides; older USB 3.1 cables will fall back to lower resolutions and slower data rates.

The specification that decides fit

The adapter delivers a maximum of 140W at 28V and 5A, so it will only sustain that charge rate when the charger, cable and device all support 140W PD. If any link in the chain is limited to a lower wattage, the adapter will negotiate down automatically.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the single adapter or the two-pack for my setup?

The package includes two magnetic USB-C adapters and two cord straps, so you get a spare for another cable or a second workstation.

What does the 140W rating mean when I plug this into my MacBook Pro?

It delivers up to 140W at 28V/5A via Power Delivery, automatically adjusting to the laptop's needs so a compatible charger can fast-charge the MacBook Pro at full speed.

How does the USB4 20Gbps interface limit real-world throughput?

The adapter meets the USB4 20Gbps specification, capping data transfers at that rate while also carrying 8K video at 60Hz over the same 24-pin connection.
