What the adapter does and who needs it

This two-pack of Jansicotek USB-C magnetic extenders adds a 90-degree breakaway connector to a Thunderbolt or USB 4 port. Each unit handles up to 140W of power delivery and 20Gbps data throughput while supporting 8K video at 60Hz. The magnetic coupling protects laptops from accidental cable pulls in tight workspaces.

Sustained-load behaviour

The adapter maintains the full 140W (28V/5A) rating continuously when paired with a compliant charger and cable, so high-wattage laptops charge without throttling. Data runs at the USB 4 ceiling of 20Gbps during long transfers, and the 8K@60Hz video stream remains stable across extended sessions. An LED confirms the link stays solid under load.

The spec that decides fit

You need a host port and cable that both carry USB 4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 signalling to unlock 20Gbps data and 8K@60Hz video; lesser USB-C implementations will fall back to lower speeds and resolutions. The magnetic tip only fits USB-C receptacles, so devices with older USB-A or proprietary ports cannot use it.

Questions about this item

Does the magnetic connection stay cool and quiet when the adapter delivers 140W all day?

The adapter has no fan or moving parts; it runs silently. Under continuous 140W load the housing may become warm, which is normal for a compact PD device.

What charger and cable must I already own to reach the 140W rating?

You need a USB-C charger and cable that both support 140W Power Delivery (28V/5A). Lower-rated gear will limit charging speed.

Will the adapter work with my older Thunderbolt 3 dock and still pass 20Gbps data?

Yes, it is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB4. With a Thunderbolt 3 dock the link runs at Thunderbolt 3 speeds; full 20Gbps requires a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 host and cable.
