The Jansicotek OZG1 takes a single Toslink SPDIF optical input and splits it to three identical outputs. It lets one source — such as a game console, Blu-ray player or streaming box — feed three separate audio devices at the same time without switching cables.

Practical limits of the optical interface

The splitter handles LPCM 2.0, DTS and Dolby-AC3 formats at up to 16 Mbps with a 650 nm peak wavelength. Signal retiming keeps timing intact, but the optical path is limited to 40 m when cable loss stays below .2 dB per metre.

Capacity and headroom

Three outputs give enough ports for a soundbar, AV receiver and headphone amplifier simultaneously. The unit draws a maximum of 100 mA from its USB 5 V supply, so it runs from a standard port.
