JBL Stage 240B bookshelf speakers

The JBL Stage 240B is a pair of two-way bookshelf loudspeakers finished in black. Each cabinet houses a 4.5" polycellulose ribbed cone woofer and a 1" anodized aluminum tweeter guided by a next-generation HDI waveguide. A precision 2-way crossover with premium components separates the signal at 1.4 kHz. Magnetically attached grilles and 5-way binding posts complete the package. Rear-firing tuned ports extend low-frequency response down to 53 Hz.

Ideal for stereo or surround setups needing stands

These speakers suit listeners who want detailed imaging and balanced tonality from a compact cabinet placed at ear level. The included floorstands position the tweeter at the optimum height and provide integrated wire management for a tidy installation. Buyers who need deep bass without a subwoofer, or who require wireless streaming and built-in amplification, should consider other solutions.

6 ohm impedance and 85 dB sensitivity

The nominal impedance of 6 ohms and sensitivity of 85 dB determine the amplifier power required to reach desired volume levels. The speakers handle 20 to 125 watts of continuous program power. Match your amplifier to these electrical characteristics to ensure stable operation and clean dynamics across the 53 Hz to 24 kHz frequency range.

Questions about this item

Do I need a separate amplifier to power these 240B speakers?

Yes, the speakers are passive with a 6-ohm impedance and require an amplifier or receiver delivering 20 to 125 watts per channel via the 5-way binding posts.

Will the included floorstands position the 1-inch tweeter at the correct ear height for my existing sofa?

The stands are 27.8 inches tall and designed to place the tweeter at the optimum listening height for accurate high-frequency detail and imaging.

How can I verify the rear-firing port is tuned correctly after positioning the speakers on the stands?

Play a 53 Hz test tone and listen for clean, controlled bass output without port chuffing or excessive boom, confirming the bass reflex alignment is working.
