Adds a PCIe 5.0 x4/x8/x16 slot for 16+12-pin Mac SSDs in 2013-2017 models
This JEYI adapter lets owners of 2013 to 2017 MacBook Air, Pro and Mac Pro models replace the original 16+12-pin SSD with a standard PCIe card. It fits x4, x8 and x16 slots and does not support x1 or x2 links. The card is new and intended for internal storage upgrades.
The adapter carries a full PCIe 5.0 x4 link rated at 128 Gbps and remains backward compatible with 4.0, 3.0 and 2.0. Maximum speed is only reached when the host, slot and drive all support Gen 5; otherwise the link negotiates to the highest common generation.
Fifty-micron gold-plated contacts improve signal stability and oxidation resistance over long use. The passive design adds no fan noise and draws negligible power beyond the installed SSD, keeping thermals dependent on the drive and host airflow.
Measured against everything we stock in SATA & eSATA Drive Cables, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.
New to this? Which coin should you pay with — what to check, what it costs to pay, and what is never asked for.
No published specifications for this item yet.
The adapter itself is a passive board with 50µm gold-plated contacts and no active cooling, so it adds negligible heat beyond the SSD you install.
Your 2013–2017 MacBook Air or Pro must use the proprietary 16+12‑pin SSD connector; the adapter plugs directly into that slot.
The adapter is backward compatible with PCIe 4.0, 3.0 and 2.0, so a PCIe 3.0 drive will operate at its native 3.0 speeds.
