Region-free DVD player for home cinema

The JOVELL DVD-168 plays discs from regions 1 to 6 and handles CD, DVD, DVD-R/+R, DVD-/+RW, CD-R/-RW, VCD and SVCD formats. It does not support Blu-ray or 4K discs. A built-in USB 2.0 port accepts FAT or FAT32 flash drives up to 32 GB for MP3, WMA, MPEG1 audio and JPEG images. Video playback from USB is limited to 720×480 or 720×576 AVI, MPG, MPEG4 or VOB files.

HDMI and AV outputs for simple integration

One HDMI output and included composite cables connect the player to TVs, projectors or audio systems without extra purchases. The compact chassis measures 8.9 by 6.9 by 1.5 inches and weighs 1.039 kilograms, so it fits on most shelves. USB 3.0 drives, NTFS or exFAT volumes and MP4 files are not supported, so prepare media accordingly.

Upscaling to 1080p with memory resume

Standard-definition DVDs are upscaled to 1080p over HDMI for a cleaner picture on modern displays. Breakpoint memory restores the exact playback position after a power loss. 5.1-channel audio output supports surround systems. The player is not suited for buyers who need Blu-ray playback, 4K upscaling, USB 3.0 speed or MP4 container support.

Questions about this item

How long can the JOVELL DVD-168 run continuously before the 1080p upscaling or USB playback becomes unstable?

The player is built for extended home use; its 1.039 kg chassis and low-profile 1.5 in height allow passive heat dissipation during all-day playback of DVDs or USB media.

What are the noise, heat and power characteristics when the DVD-168 runs all day?

No cooling fan is fitted, so operation is silent; the compact 8.9 x 6.9 x 1.5 in enclosure stays warm but not hot, and power draw remains low during continuous disc or USB 2.0 playback.

Which cables and display inputs must I already have to use the HDMI 1080p upscaling and 5.1 audio on this model?

An HDMI cable is included for 1080p video and 5.1 audio; a composite AV cable is also supplied for older TVs, and the player accepts FAT/FAT32 USB 2.0 drives up to 32 GB for media files.
