What this kit contains

The Kastar BP-727 set includes one 3200mAh lithium-ion battery and one AC wall charger. It fits a long list of Canon VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders from the HF R, HF M and HF R*00 series. The battery delivers 11.84 Wh at 3.7V for standard recording sessions.

Charger input and output limits

The wall charger accepts AC 100 to 240V at 50 to 60Hz and supplies DC 4.2V at 600mA. A foldable flat plug makes storage compact. An LED shows red while charging and green when the cell reaches full charge or stands by.

Replaces Canon BP-727, BP-718 and BP-709 cells

This pack substitutes for the original Canon BP-727, BP-718 and BP-709 batteries and the CG-700 charger. The jump is worth it when you need a spare or replacement that charges from any mains voltage without a separate power brick. It does not serve cameras that require higher-capacity packs or different form factors.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the BP-727 3200mAh battery or a lower-capacity BP-718 for my VIXIA HF R40?

The BP-727 delivers 3200mAh at 3.7V (11.84 Wh), giving longer run-time than the BP-718 while fitting the same VIXIA HF R40, R42, R50, R52, R60 and R62 models.

What does the 3200mAh rating actually give me when shooting with a VIXIA HF R50?

At 3.7V the cell stores 11.84 Wh, which typically powers a VIXIA HF R50 for several hours of continuous recording before needing a recharge.

How fast will the included AC charger (100-240V input, 4.2V 600mA output) refill the 3200mAh battery?

The charger supplies 600mA at 4.2V, so a full charge from empty takes roughly five to six hours; the LED shows red while charging and green when complete.
