Easy Drive Access

The adapter connects a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a computer through USB 3.0 or USB C ports. It suits users who want to expand storage, upgrade a system, back up files or recover data without installing the drive inside an enclosure. Plug and play operation works on Windows XP through 11, Mac OS and Linux. No driver installation is required.

Capacity and Power Headroom

The included 12V 2A power adapter supplies enough current for a 3.5 inch hard drive, while 2.5 inch drives can run from the USB port alone. Drives up to 20 TB are supported, so large mechanical disks and high capacity SSDs both fit within the limit. The adapter runs out of headroom only when a drive exceeds that capacity or demands more than the 2A supply can deliver.

USB 3.0 Interface Limits

Data moves at up to 5 Gbps over the USB 3.0 link, with UASP and TRIM boosting SSD read speeds by 70 percent and write speeds by 40 percent compared with traditional transfers. The connection remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1, though speeds drop to those older standards. The practical ceiling is the 5 Gbps bus, so the fastest internal SSDs will not reach their native throughput.
