SmartFit Height Adjustment

The Kensington 60004 under-desk keyboard drawer mounts beneath a worksurface to free desk space while keeping the keyboard and mouse within reach. Its SmartFit System offers four preset height positions so each user can match the tray to their seated posture without tools. The extra-wide tray measures 26 inches across and accepts standard, oversize and ergonomically shaped keyboards. Integrated wrist rest and mouse pad complete the setup.

Upgrade from Fixed Trays

This unit replaces a static keyboard shelf that cannot change height or lacks a built-in mousing surface. The jump is worth it when multiple people share the same workstation or when the current tray forces wrists into an awkward angle. Three height levels at 2, 2.5 and 4 inches let the drawer clear chair arms or adapt to sit-stand transitions. Cable management clips keep cords tidy during height changes.

Verify Desk Clearance

Confirm the desk underside has at least 29.5 inches of front-to-back depth and 28.0 inches of width for the mounting footprint. Ensure no centre drawer, cross-brace or modesty panel blocks the tray travel path. The mounting hardware requires a solid wood or metal surface at least .25 inches thick for secure attachment. Check that the chosen height setting leaves enough knee room when the drawer is fully extended.

Questions about this item

What desk thickness will the Kensington 60004 mounting brackets accommodate?

The SmartFit mounting hardware clamps to desks up to 25 mm thick, securing the drawer without drilling.

Which height setting should I choose first when installing the Kensington 60004 drawer?

Start at the middle 2.5" position, test typing posture, then move up to 4" or down to 2" if wrists need a different angle.

Can the integrated wrist rest and mouse pad on the Kensington 60004 be replaced if they wear out?

They are built into the 26" tray; the whole drawer is replaced as one unit when the surface degrades.
