Klipsch RP-500MBII Ebony bookshelf speaker

The Klipsch RP-500MBII is a passive bookshelf speaker system finished in Ebony. It uses a 5.25-inch Cerametallic woofer and a 1-inch LTS titanium diaphragm tweeter within a two-way design. A 90° x 90° silicone composite hybrid Tractrix horn controls high-frequency directivity. Dual input terminals allow bi-wiring or bi-amping configurations.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This speaker suits listeners wanting detailed high-frequency reproduction from a compact monitor. The 27Hz low-frequency extension supports full-range playback in smaller rooms. Buyers needing higher continuous power handling above 75 watts or deeper bass extension below 27Hz without a subwoofer should consider different models.

Nominal impedance 4 Ohms

The nominal impedance is rated at 4 Ohms, which determines the amplifier current demand. Pairing requires an amplifier stable into 4-ohm loads to deliver the rated 300-watt peak power capability safely. This single specification decides whether your existing electronics can drive the speaker to its full potential without protection shutdowns.

Questions about this item

What are the cabinet dimensions of the RP-500MBII bookshelf speaker?

The cabinet measures 120 × 120 × 25 mm, which is 4.72 × 4.72 × 0.98 in.

How do I connect speaker wire to the dual binding posts for bi-wiring?

Remove the metal jumpers between the upper and lower terminals, then run separate cables from the amplifier to each pair of posts.

What driver components may need attention after extended use?

The 5.25 in Cerametallic woofer and 1 in LTS titanium tweeter are the only moving parts; surrounds and diaphragms can age over many years.
