Built for high-frame-rate gaming

The Lenovo Legion 5i 15 pairs an Intel Core i7-14700HX with 20 cores and 28 threads with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8 GB GPU. A 15.1 inch WQXGA OLED panel runs at 165 Hz and 2560 x 1600 resolution. The system ships with 64 GB DDR5 memory and a 1 TB PCIe SSD. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Sustained load behaviour

The 20-core processor maintains a 2.1 GHz base clock and can reach 5.5 GHz on performance cores during extended sessions. Dual USB-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 and 2.1 support external displays while the laptop drives its own panel. Wi-Fi 7 and a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port keep network latency low for long multiplayer matches.

Deciding specification

The 15.1 inch OLED display at 165 Hz and 2560 x 1600 resolution is the single spec that determines suitability. Buyers who need a higher refresh rate or a larger panel for competitive play will not find it here.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-14700HX get when the RTX 5070 is pushed all day?

The 20-core i7-14700HX and RTX 5070 share a vapour-chamber cooler; under sustained load the fans spin up to an audible but not intrusive level while surface temperatures stay within the chassis limits.

What must I already own to use the USB-C 10 Gbps ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and 100 W Power Delivery?

A monitor or dock that accepts DisplayPort 2.1 over USB-C and a 100 W USB-PD charger will let you drive 8K 60 Hz video and charge the laptop through the same cable.

Will my older 5 Gbps USB-A peripherals and HDMI 1.4 monitor work without adapters?

Yes — the three USB-A ports run at 5 Gbps and the HDMI 2.1 port is backwards-compatible, so legacy mice, drives and 1080p displays connect directly.
