Gaming laptop for high-refresh OLED play

This Lenovo Legion 5i 15 pairs an Intel Core i7-14700HX with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8 GB GPU. The 15.1" WQXGA OLED panel runs at 165 Hz and 2560 x 1600 resolution. It ships with Windows 11 Home, 64 GB of DDR5 memory and a 2 TB PCIe SSD. Wi-Fi 7 and a per-key RGB keyboard complete the package.

USB and display bandwidth limits

The laptop provides two USB-A ports at 5 Gbps and two USB-C ports at 10 Gbps. One USB-C supports USB Power Delivery up to 100 W and DisplayPort 2.1, the other carries DisplayPort 1.4. HDMI 2.1 can drive an external panel at 8K 60 Hz. Ethernet uses a standard RJ-45 jack and a 3.5 mm combo jack handles audio.

Soldered memory caps total capacity

The 64 GB DDR5 configuration fills every available slot, so no further memory upgrades are possible. Buyers who anticipate needing more system RAM must choose a different model. Storage can still be expanded via the PCIe SSD bay, but the memory ceiling is fixed at the factory.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 16 GB / 512 GB base or the 64 GB / 2 TB upgraded configuration?

The upgraded model ships with 64 GB DDR5 and a 2 TB PCIe SSD already installed, so you get full capacity without opening the chassis.

What does the 5.5 GHz boost clock mean for actual gaming?

The i7-14700HX can hit 5.5 GHz on its performance cores, keeping frame rates high in CPU-bound titles while the RTX 5070 handles the graphics load.

What does the USB-C 10 Gbps port with DisplayPort 2.1 cap at for external monitors?

That port supports DisplayPort 2.1, enabling up to 8K at 60 Hz on a compatible display.
