Compact All-in-One for Business Use

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q Tiny combines a 24 inch FHD IPS display with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor reaching 4.10 GHz. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory, a 128 GB M.2 SSD plus a 1 TB SSD, DVD-ROM drive and Windows 11 Pro. A USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Thermals and Power in Daily Work

The 65 W processor runs cool enough for the tiny chassis to stay quiet during typical office tasks. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handle standard business applications without adding discrete heat. A USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongle provides 5 GHz wireless connectivity without internal antenna complexity.

Behaviour Under Sustained Load

The compact form factor limits airflow during extended heavy workloads, so sustained multi-core performance will throttle below the 4.10 GHz boost clock. The dual-drive layout keeps the operating system responsive on the M.2 SSD while the 1 TB SSD absorbs large writes. Buyers who need discrete graphics or user-upgradeable memory beyond 32 GB should consider a tower chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 SSD in the Tiny chassis, and what step is often missed?

Open the Tiny case, insert the M.2 drive into the slot on the motherboard, secure it with the retention screw, then reinstall the cover; the step often missed is tightening that screw so the drive stays seated.

Which memory upgrades will this system accept later?

It takes DDR4 UDIMM modules up to a total of 32 GB; match the existing 8 GB stick with another DDR4 UDIMM of the same speed.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained loads on the i5-8500?

The 65 W processor will hit its thermal throttle point before the compact Tiny cooler can dissipate the heat, so clock speeds drop to stay within the 65 W envelope.
