Tiny business desktop for office teams

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q is a micro form factor desktop built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor with a 3.0 GHz base clock and 4.10 GHz turbo. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory and a 3.5" 1 TB hard drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed along with a USB keyboard and mouse, making it ready for immediate deployment in general office environments.

65 W processor in a compact chassis

The 65 W CPU operates within a tiny case that relies on an internal fan for cooling. Under typical office workloads the system remains quiet enough for open-plan desks, while the low-power architecture keeps electricity draw modest during extended business hours. No liquid cooling or additional case fans are present, so thermal performance scales directly with ambient temperature and ventilation space.

VESA-ready case with legacy and wireless options

The black micro chassis includes a DVD-ROM drive and supports VESA mounting behind compatible displays to reclaim desk space. Connectivity covers USB ports for peripherals and a supplied USB dongle that adds dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability. Expansion is limited to the existing memory slots and drive bay, so users needing additional internal storage or discrete graphics should consider larger form factors.

Questions about this item

How do I install the included USB Wi-Fi dongle and what step is often missed?

Plug the USB Wi-Fi dongle into any free USB port on the ThinkCentre M720q Tiny; the step people forget is enabling the wireless adapter in Windows 10 Pro network settings before connecting to a network.

What memory upgrades will this M720q accept later?

The system uses DDR4 UDIMM modules and supports up to 32 GB total; install matching DDR4 DIMMs in the available slots to expand beyond the factory 16 GB.

Which component hits its limit first during sustained heavy workloads?

The 65 W Intel Core i5-8500 processor reaches its thermal ceiling before other parts, causing clock speeds to drop from the 4.1 GHz maximum under prolonged load.
