Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s business desktop

This small-form-factor desktop ships with Windows 11 Pro and an Intel Core i5-8500 six-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with 9 MB cache. It includes 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD for fast boot and application loading. Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives dual DisplayPort outputs and a VGA port.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Office workers needing a compact, quiet machine for productivity apps, web browsing and multi-monitor setups will find the specification adequate. Buyers who require discrete graphics performance, built-in Wi-Fi, more than 8 GB of memory or internal expansion slots should consider other configurations.

Deciding specification: 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD

The 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD provides substantial high-speed storage for operating system, applications and large data sets in a single drive. If your workload demands more capacity or a second drive bay, this chassis does not accommodate additional internal storage.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 8 GB DDR4 and a larger memory option for this ThinkCentre M720s?

The unit comes with 8 GB DDR4 installed. Windows 11 Pro runs smoothly on this amount for typical business workloads, and the memory can be expanded later if your applications demand more capacity.

What does the 3.0 GHz six-core i5 8500 deliver in everyday use?

The 3.0 GHz, six-core processor with 9 MB L3 cache handles multi-threaded office tasks, web browsing and light content creation without bottlenecks, while the 65 W TDP keeps heat and fan noise low in the small chassis.

What does the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port actually support on this desktop?

The single USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port provides up to 5 Gbit/s data transfer for peripherals and storage; it does not carry video or power delivery, so external monitors must use the two DisplayPort outputs or the VGA port.
