Compact business desktop with six-core processor

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF desktop computer is built for office environments that need reliable everyday performance. An Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.10 GHz maximum turbo frequency handles standard productivity workloads. The system includes 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB 2.5-inch SSD for the operating system and core applications. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed with a USB keyboard and mouse supplied.

Sustained workload behaviour within a 65 W envelope

The 65 W processor maintains its base frequency during extended tasks such as large spreadsheet calculations or background indexing without thermal throttling in the small form factor chassis. Intel UHD Graphics 630 provides hardware-accelerated video decode for conferencing and light media playback. The included DVD-ROM drive allows access to legacy installation media or archival discs while the system remains operational.

Connectivity and expansion limits of the platform

Dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are provided by a USB dongle that occupies one port, leaving the remaining USB sockets for peripherals. The motherboard supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory across its slots, enabling a future upgrade path for heavier multitasking. Storage expansion is possible through an available M.2 slot for a second drive alongside the existing 2.5-inch SSD.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the 65 W i5-8500 get when the M720s runs all day?

The 65 W processor is designed for sustained office workloads in the small-form-factor chassis; typical noise stays at a low hum and temperatures remain within normal operating limits under continuous use.

Does the box include a monitor, or do I need to supply my own display for the Intel UHD Graphics 630 output?

No monitor is included; you must provide a display with a compatible video input such as HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA to use the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Will my existing DDR4 UDIMM modules work if I want to expand the 8 GB up to the 32 GB maximum?

Yes, the board uses standard DDR4 UDIMM slots, so any compatible DDR4 UDIMM sticks can be added to reach the 32 GB ceiling.
