Compact business desktop for office teams

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF desktop PC uses an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.10 GHz maximum turbo. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory, a 256 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1 TB SSD for data, plus Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.

Thermals and power in daily workloads

The 65 W processor is cooled inside the small-form-factor chassis with no liquid cooling required. Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles standard business video output without a discrete card, keeping power draw modest during typical productivity tasks.

Included peripherals and connectivity

A USB keyboard and USB mouse are bundled so the system is ready to deploy. A USB wireless dongle adds 5 GHz-capable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while a DVD-ROM drive provides legacy media access for installations or archives.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB M.2 SSD in the ThinkCentre M720s and what step is often missed?

Insert the M.2 module into the motherboard slot at a slight angle then secure it with the single retaining screw; the step often missed is tightening that screw so the drive stays firmly seated.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The system supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 UDIMM across two 240-pin slots, so you can add a matching 8 GB module or replace both sticks with higher-capacity DDR4 kits when more memory is required.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics 630 during sustained workloads?

The integrated graphics share system memory and thermal headroom with the 65 W i5-8500, so extended heavy rendering hits memory bandwidth and temperature limits before the CPU reaches its 4.1 GHz turbo ceiling.
