Compact business desktop with hexa-core processor

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF is a new small-form-factor desktop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor running at 3.20 GHz with turbo up to 4.60 GHz. It includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory, a 512 GB M.2 SSD, a 1 TB hard drive, and Windows 10 Pro. A USB keyboard and mouse are supplied, while a monitor is not included.

Integrated UHD 630 graphics and SFF expansion limits

Graphics are handled by the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 engine, which drives everyday office applications and video playback without a discrete card. The SFF chassis restricts internal expansion to low-profile cards and the provided 65 W processor ceiling, so workloads needing dedicated GPU compute or higher thermal headroom will exceed the platform's design envelope.

Dual-drive storage with 32 GB memory ceiling

The 512 GB M.2 SSD hosts the operating system and core applications for fast boot and load times, while the 1 TB hard drive provides bulk capacity for documents and archives. DDR4 memory can be expanded to 32 GB across the available slots, giving headroom for heavier multitasking; beyond that limit or with workloads demanding discrete graphics performance, this configuration reaches its practical boundary.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 512 GB M.2 SSD or the 1 TB hard drive for my main programs?

Install the operating system and everyday applications on the 512 GB M.2 solid-state drive for fast boot and load times; use the 1 TB hard drive for large files and backups.

The i7-8700 lists 4.60 GHz — will it hold that speed under a full load?

The 4.60 GHz figure is the maximum single-core turbo frequency; sustained all-core speeds will be lower and depend on the small-form-factor cooler and 65 W power limit.

What graphics output does the Intel UHD Graphics 630 support on this SFF unit?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives the video ports on the rear of the chassis — typically DisplayPort and HDMI — for dual-monitor setups.
