Compact Business Desktop for Office Work

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor running at 3.20 GHz with a 4.60 GHz turbo boost. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory, a 128 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1 TB SSD for data, plus Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. The chassis includes a DVD-ROM drive, a USB Wi-Fi dongle with 5 GHz capability, and wired keyboard and mouse.

65 W Hexa-Core Processor Defines Performance Ceiling

The i7-8700 operates at a 65 W TDP with six cores and twelve threads, reaching 4.60 GHz under turbo boost. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles display output without a discrete card. This thermal envelope and core count set the practical limit for sustained workloads such as multi-tab browsing, document processing and light content creation.

Dual-Drive Layout and Included Peripherals Ready

The factory configuration places the OS on the 128 GB M.2 drive while the 1 TB SSD provides bulk storage, eliminating the need to partition a single volume. A USB keyboard and mouse are bundled so the system is operational immediately, and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi dongle adds wireless connectivity without occupying an internal slot.

Questions about this item

How does the 4.6 GHz turbo speed behave once the i7-8700 is installed in this SFF chassis?

The processor reaches 4.6 GHz on a single core when thermal headroom allows; sustained all-core speeds sit at the 3.20 GHz base with the 65 W TDP managed by the small-form-factor cooler.

What does the USB wireless dongle actually connect to and what throughput ceiling should I expect?

The supplied dongle provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth over a USB port; real-world throughput is limited by the USB 2.0 interface and the 5 GHz capability noted in the specifications.

Will a standard low-profile graphics card fit in the M720s case?

The SFF chassis accepts low-profile PCIe add-in cards; full-height brackets will not clear the side panel.
