Compact business desktop for office workloads

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor that reaches 4.1 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory, a 256 GB M.2 solid-state drive for the operating system and a 1 TB solid-state drive for data. Windows 10 Pro, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse are included, making it ready for immediate deployment in professional environments.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The 65 W processor and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 keep heat output modest inside the compact chassis, so fan noise stays low during typical office tasks such as document editing, web browsing and video playback. Dual solid-state storage eliminates mechanical drive noise, and the system idles quietly while handling standard productivity workloads without thermal throttling.

Single specification that decides fit

Intel UHD Graphics 630 provides only basic display output and cannot accelerate modern 3D applications, heavy video editing or multi-monitor gaming setups. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance or hardware-accelerated rendering should choose a different system.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 32 GB DDR4 memory and which step do people often miss?

Open the SFF chassis, align each 240-pin DDR4 UDIMM module with the slot notch, press firmly until the retention clips click on both sides, then verify 32 GB appears in BIOS — the step often missed is forgetting to seat both clips fully.

What maintenance or replacement will the 256 GB M.2 SSD and 1 TB SSD need later?

Both solid-state drives have no moving parts; keep firmware updated via Lenovo Vantage, monitor SMART health annually, and replace only if capacity runs out or SMART reports critical warnings.

What limit appears first when the i5-8500 runs at 4.10 GHz under sustained load?

The 65 W processor power limit throttles clocks before the Intel UHD Graphics 630 or the SFF cooling reach their ceilings.
