Compact business desktop with hexa-core i7-8700

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF is a small-form-factor desktop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700 processor with six cores and twelve threads. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive configuration of 256 GB M.2 SSD plus 1 TB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles display output. A USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Check power, memory slots and expansion space

The system uses a 65 W processor and SFF chassis, so confirm your power budget and physical clearance for any add-in cards. Memory is provided as a single 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM in a 240-pin DIMM slot; the platform supports up to 32 GB total, so verify how many slots remain free before ordering extra modules. Wireless connectivity comes via a USB dongle with 5 GHz capability, occupying one port.

Fits tight workspaces and frees drive bays

The compact case suits crowded desks and standard rack shelves while leaving the 3.5-inch bay open for additional storage if the chassis allows. Dual SSDs mean the operating system and data reside on solid-state media, eliminating mechanical hard-drive noise and latency. Included USB peripherals reduce cable clutter, and the DVD-ROM drive covers legacy media needs without an external unit.

Questions about this item

Does the Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s SFF include a monitor, or do I need to buy one separately?

The system ships with a USB keyboard and mouse, but no monitor is included — you will need to supply your own display.

The i7-8700 shows 3.20 GHz base and 4.60 GHz boost — which figure matters for everyday office workloads?

Base 3.20 GHz is the sustained speed under load; the 4.60 GHz Turbo Boost activates only on lighter, bursty tasks and cannot be maintained continuously.

Can I expand the 8 GB DDR4 beyond the installed module, and what is the practical limit?

The board supports up to 32 GB of DDR4, so you can add modules to reach that ceiling.
