ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 for mobile professionals

The ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 is a 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses a 10-core Intel Core i5-1235U processor with a 4.4 GHz turbo frequency and 24GB of memory. The 512GB SSD provides the primary storage. Integrated graphics handle the 1920 x 1080 Full HD non-touch display.

WiFi 6E connectivity and wireless limits

The laptop includes 802.11ac wireless LAN with WiFi 6E support for fast data transfer. Real-world throughput depends on router capability, channel congestion and signal range. The integrated wireless adapter cannot match wired Ethernet latency or sustained bandwidth. Buyers who need guaranteed low-jitter links for real-time workloads should plan for a dock or USB-Ethernet adapter.

Integrated graphics and memory ceiling

Integrated graphics replace a discrete GPU, saving power but limiting 3D and compute performance. The 24GB memory configuration sits below the platform maximum of 40GB. Buyers who want more storage headroom or higher RAM for large datasets will need a different configuration. The jump to discrete graphics is worth it when rendering, CAD or video export are daily tasks.

Questions about this item

Is the 24GB memory enough or should I look for the 40GB option?

The 24GB configuration handles typical business workloads well; the 40GB maximum is only reachable on models that ship with higher memory installed.

What does the 4.4GHz turbo figure mean when I am actually working?

The Core i5-1235U can reach 4.4GHz on short bursts, but sustained speeds settle lower depending on cooling and the task mix.

Does the 802.11ac wireless limit my connection speed compared to WiFi 6E?

The laptop uses 802.11ac, so real-world throughput will cap at that standard even if the router supports WiFi 6E.
