Business ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T440s is a 14.0 inch laptop built around a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i5-4300U dual-core processor. It ships with 4 GB DDR3 memory and a 2.5 inch 256 GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed along with a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 security chip and a backlit keyboard.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The integrated graphics and low-voltage processor keep heat output modest during typical office workloads such as document editing and web browsing. Fan activity remains quiet under light multitasking, and the carbon-fibre chassis helps dissipate warmth without becoming uncomfortable. Power draw stays low, supporting extended time away from a mains socket.

Upgrade path and when it matters

This system replaces an older hard-drive laptop that struggles with slow boot times and limited responsiveness. The jump to solid-state storage and a modern operating system makes everyday tasks feel snappier. Buyers who need more than 4 GB of memory for heavy multitasking or virtualisation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" 256 GB solid state drive into the ThinkPad T440s?

Remove the base cover, slide the 2.5" drive into the bay and secure it; many forget to press the connector fully home before refitting the cover.

What maintenance or replacement will the 4 GB DDR3 memory need later?

The 4 GB DDR3 is soldered and cannot be upgraded; if more capacity is required the only option is a new system board.

Which limit appears first on the Core i5-4300U during sustained loads?

The 1.9 GHz base clock is the first ceiling; under continuous work the dual-core processor throttles to stay within its thermal envelope.
