ThinkPad T470 14-inch HD laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor running at 2.40 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The device has no operating system installed, so the buyer must provide their own.

Upgrade from slower storage or less memory

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the included 128GB SSD dramatically reduces boot and application load times. The 16GB of DDR4 RAM handles multitasking smoothly, and the two memory slots allow expansion up to 32 GB total if workloads demand more capacity. This jump is worth it when moving from a system with 8GB or less and mechanical storage.

Fits a mobile workflow needing OS flexibility

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 non-touch display for everyday productivity and video playback. The laptop includes Bluetooth and a webcam for communication. With no OS preloaded, it suits users who prefer a clean Linux install or a specific Windows licence. The 128GB SSD leaves room for a larger drive later if storage needs grow.

Questions about this item

What size and interface does the drive bay use for the 128 GB SSD?

The 128 GB SSD is a 2.5 inch SATA drive, so the bay accepts a standard 2.5 inch SATA storage device.

Which screw or latch secures the bottom cover during RAM or SSD upgrades?

Remove the external battery, then unscrew the five Phillips screws on the base; the cover lifts off without hidden clips.

When will the soldered 4 GB portion of the 16 GB memory need replacement?

The soldered 4 GB cannot be replaced; only the second slot supports upgrades up to 32 GB total.
