Lenovo ThinkPad T470 14" FHD Laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 is a 14.0" FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-7600U dual-core processor at 2.80 GHz with turbo up to 3.90 GHz. It comes with 8GB DDR4 memory and a new 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD. The system ships with no operating system installed, so the buyer must provide and install their own OS.

500GB 2.5" SATA SSD and No Operating System

The new 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD replaces any original mechanical drive, delivering faster boot and application load times than a traditional hard disk. Because no operating system is included, you will need to supply a Windows licence or alternative OS and create installation media before the laptop can be used.

Two Memory Slots Supporting up to 32 GB RAM

The laptop has two memory slots and supports a maximum of 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, so the fitted 8GB module leaves room for an upgrade. Verify that your existing DDR4 modules match the required specification if you plan to add or replace memory. Ensure you have a legitimate OS licence and installation media ready, as none is provided.

Questions about this item

Can the 8GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later, and what is the maximum supported?

The laptop has two memory slots and supports up to 32 GB of DDR4, so you can add or replace modules to reach that limit.

What component is likely to throttle first during heavy, sustained workloads on the Core i7-7600U?

The Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated GPU shares system memory and thermal budget with the CPU, so graphics-intensive tasks will hit thermal or memory-bandwidth limits before the dual-core processor reaches its 3.90 GHz turbo.

How loud and hot does the 14.0" FHD model get when running all day on the 500GB SATA SSD?

The 2.5" SATA SSD has no moving parts, keeping heat and noise low; the dual-core i7-7600U at 2.80 GHz base clock stays cool enough for the compact 14-inch chassis to remain quiet during typical office use.
