Lenovo ThinkPad T480 14" FHD Ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a 14.0-inch FHD non-touch ultrabook powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core processor at 1.8 GHz with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled and includes an OEM 45W or 65W AC adapter. The unit is graded Grade A cosmetic condition.

Check ports, charger and OS needs

Verify that the three USB 3.1 ports, single USB-C port, HDMI output and RJ-45 Ethernet meet your peripheral requirements. Confirm the included 45W or 65W adapter matches your power expectations. Ensure Windows 11 Pro suits your software environment and that the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 covers your display workload.

Upgrade from dual-core or 8 GB RAM machines

This configuration replaces older dual-core ultrabooks or systems limited to 8 GB RAM and smaller SSDs. The jump is worth it when you need four cores, 32 GB memory and a fast 128 GB boot drive for multitasking and productivity. Buyers who want more storage, a dedicated GPU or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Should I choose the T480 at 3.6 lbs or the lighter T490 at 3.2 lbs for daily carry?

The T490 weighs 3.2 lbs and measures 12.7" x 8.5" x 0.7", making it lighter and smaller than the T480 at 3.6 lbs and 13.25" x 9.15" x 0.78".

Will the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle 1080p video editing on the 14.0" FHD IPS panel?

The UHD 620 is an integrated GPU suited to playback and light timeline scrubbing at 1920 x 1080; sustained render workloads will be limited by shared memory and thermal headroom.
