Ready-to-deploy business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 or T490 ships with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and an OEM AC adapter. An 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor runs at 1.6 GHz with 6 MB L2 cache. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 14.0 inch non-touch IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SSD complete the configuration.

Desk-ready connectivity and expansion

Three USB 3.1 ports and one USB-C port handle peripherals and docking. HDMI output connects external displays while the RJ-45 jack provides wired Gigabit Ethernet. Intel Dual Band Wireless with Bluetooth 4.1 covers wireless needs. A front-facing webcam supports video calls. The M.2 slot accepts SATA or NVME drives for storage upgrades, and the memory ceiling sits at 32 GB.

Replaces older dual-core ultrabooks

Moving from a two-core machine to this quad-core i5 delivers a clear uplift in multitasking and compile times. The 32 GB DDR4 allocation removes the memory ceiling that throttles heavier workloads on 8 GB or 16 GB systems. Buyers who need a larger boot drive or discrete graphics should look elsewhere, as the 128 GB SSD and integrated graphics define the baseline specification.

Questions about this item

How hot does the Core i5-8250U get when the laptop runs flat out all day?

The quad-core i5-8250U has a 15 W TDP; the fan spins up under sustained load but stays within the thermal envelope designed for the 0.78 in chassis.

What is the fan noise like during a full workday?

Under light office tasks the system is near-silent; prolonged heavy workloads raise fan speed to an audible but not disruptive level.

Which cables or peripherals must I already have to use the USB-C port?

The USB-C port carries data and video; you need a USB-C cable or adapter for monitors, drives or charging accessories.
