Mobile workstation for business users

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a durable, lightweight system running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. It combines an Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. A fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter webcam cover provide hardware-based security features for mobile workflows.

Sustained performance with integrated graphics

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory rather than dedicated video memory, which limits graphics throughput during extended heavy workloads. Thermal constraints in the slim chassis mean the quad-core CPU will throttle clock speeds to manage heat over long periods. Battery life reaches up to 13.5 hours under typical office use, though intensive tasks will reduce that figure significantly.

Compatibility checks before purchase

Verify that 8GB of soldered memory meets your multitasking requirements, as the configuration does not support user upgrades beyond the factory specification. Confirm the 256GB SSD capacity is sufficient for local file storage without relying on external drives. Ensure Windows 10 Pro 64-bit aligns with your software licensing and peripheral driver needs. The non-touch FHD IPS display offers 1920 x 1080 resolution only.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the ThinkPad T480s get when the i5-8250U runs at full load all day?

The T480s passes MIL-SPEC thermal tests; the quad-core i5-8250U with 6 MB cache is cooled in a slim graphite-black chassis designed for sustained mobile workloads.

What must I already own to start working with this Windows 10 Pro 64-bit laptop?

The unit ships with 8 GB memory, a 256 GB SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620 and a 14.0" 1920 x 1080 IPS display — only a power source and your user credentials are needed.
