14-inch FHD business ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0-inch Full HD IPS ultrabook powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.70 GHz with a turbo up to 3.60 GHz. It ships with 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD, running Windows 10 Pro. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles the display output.

Upgrade from dual-core or 8 GB systems

This unit replaces older dual-core ultrabooks or machines limited to 8 GB of soldered memory. The jump is worth it when you need four cores and eight threads for heavier multitasking, plus the 24 GB DDR4 capacity for larger workloads. The 512 GB SSD also removes the bottleneck of smaller 128 GB or 256 GB drives.

Check power and port needs before ordering

Verify that your existing USB-C charger supports Power Delivery if you plan to use a single brick, and confirm that your external monitors accept DisplayPort alt-mode over USB-C or HDMI. The laptop includes two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports, two USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, plus HDMI. Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 4.1 provide wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

Which physical drive form factor fits the T480s storage slot?

The laptop uses an M.2 solid-state drive; the installed unit is a 512 GB SSD.

How is the M.2 SSD secured during installation?

Insert the drive at an angle into the M.2 slot, then fasten the single retention screw — the step often missed is tightening that screw before reassembling the chassis.

Which user-replaceable components will need attention over time?

The 24 GB DDR4 memory is soldered and not replaceable; the M.2 SSD can be swapped for a larger SATA or NVME drive, and the internal battery is serviceable by removing the bottom cover.
