Ready-to-work ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0" FHD laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine with a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with a 512 GB SSD and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, so it is ready for office applications, video calls and light content creation straight out of the box.

Quad-core i7-8650U with 8 MB cache

The single specification that decides fit is the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U running at 1.9 GHz with a 4.20 GHz maximum turbo across four cores and eight threads. This CPU delivers the multi-threaded headroom needed for heavy spreadsheets, virtual machines or compile jobs, while the integrated graphics handle external displays via the USB-C ports without a discrete GPU.

Low-noise thermals on integrated graphics

Because the system relies on Intel UHD Graphics 620 rather than a discrete chip, heat output stays modest during typical workloads such as document editing, browsing and video conferencing. The fan remains quiet under light load and only ramps up noticeably during sustained all-core turbo, keeping power draw within the 65 W AC adapter's capacity without requiring a larger brick.

Questions about this item

What does the 1.9 GHz base clock on the i7-8650U mean for everyday workloads?

The quad-core processor runs at 1.9 GHz and can boost to 4.20 GHz, so office apps and web browsing stay responsive while heavier tasks get short bursts of extra speed.

What do the two USB Type-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort actually support?

Both Type-C ports handle charging, video out to an external monitor and data transfer at USB 3.1 Gen1 speeds.

Will the 14.0" chassis accept a second M.2 drive or a 2.5" SATA drive?

The specifications list only the single 512 GB SSD; no additional M.2 or 2.5" bay is mentioned.
