Built for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon sixth generation is a 14-inch laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It weighs between two and 2.9 pounds and uses a carbon-fibre chassis tested against twelve military-grade requirements. The Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core processor reaches 4.0 GHz and suits professionals who need a light, durable machine for daily productivity.

Memory and storage limits

The system ships with 8GB of LPDDR3 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD. That capacity handles office suites, web workloads and light creative tasks. Buyers who want more storage or who need user-upgradeable memory will find neither slot nor bay available on this platform.

Thunderbolt 3 connectivity

Two USB Type-C ports support Thunderbolt 3 at up to 40 Gbps for data, video and charging. The remaining two USB ports and Bluetooth 4.1 cover standard peripherals. Buyers who require the higher bandwidth of later Thunderbolt versions should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 14" FHD IPS display run at its native 1920 x 1080 resolution when connected to my older Thunderbolt 3 dock?

Yes, the Intel Core i7-8550U supports up to 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth, so the 1920 x 1080 panel will run at full resolution through a compatible dock.

How can I confirm the discrete TPM and fingerprint reader are active after first boot?

Open Windows Security to verify the discrete TPM status and use Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options to confirm the fingerprint sensor is enrolled and working.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 cable for the USB-C charging port, or must I buy one separately?

The system ships with a USB-C power adapter; a Thunderbolt 3 cable for 40 Gbps data or dual-video bandwidth is not included and must be purchased separately.
