Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 is a 14-inch ultrabook built for mobile professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 1.9 GHz base clock and 8 MB L2 cache. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch display. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SSD complete the core specification.

Verify ports and storage needs

Check that your peripherals match the available connections: two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports, one of which supports Always On charging, and two USB Type-C ports with Power Delivery, DisplayPort and data transfer. An HDMI output is also present for external displays. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 4.1. The 128 GB SSD offers limited capacity, so confirm it suits your workload or plan for external storage.

Steady performance within thermal limits

Under sustained load the quad-core processor can reach 4.2 GHz turbo speeds, but the ultrabook chassis will throttle clocks to manage heat. Integrated graphics share system memory, so extended 3D or video tasks run within the 16 GB DDR4 pool. The 128 GB SSD maintains consistent read and write rates for typical office workloads, while battery life varies with screen brightness and wireless activity.
