12.5" HD Touch Display

The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is a 12.5 inch business laptop with a 1366x768 resolution touchscreen. It runs Windows 10 Professional 64-bit on an Intel Core i7-2640M processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory. A 500GB solid state drive provides the primary storage. This configuration suits mobile professionals needing a durable, pen-enabled device for office applications.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The Core i7-2640M operates with a 3.50 GHz turbo frequency and 4M cache to handle multitasking workloads. Shared system memory allocates resources dynamically between the processor and integrated graphics during extended sessions. The Active Protection System and redesigned hinge with magnetic latching maintain physical integrity under daily transport stress. Keyboard noise suppression and dual microphone modes preserve audio clarity during long conference calls.

Interface Practical Limits

Connectivity includes three USB ports alongside one VGA and one DisplayPort video output for external displays. A Gigabit LAN port supports wired network speeds up to 1000Mbps. Wireless communication uses 802.11b/g/n standards for compatible access points. The proprietary docking connector enables shared workstation setups with other compatible ThinkPad series laptops.

Questions about this item

How hot and noisy does the Core i7-2640M get during long work sessions?

The processor runs up to 3.5 GHz with 4M cache; Lenovo's Active Protection System and redesigned hinge help manage thermals, while keyboard noise suppression reduces key-click sound during calls.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the VGA and DisplayPort outputs?

The laptop provides one VGA and one DisplayPort video port; you need a compatible VGA cable or DisplayPort cable and an external monitor that accepts those inputs.

Will the docking connector work with my older ThinkPad T, L or W series dock?

Yes, the common docking feature allows shared work areas with ThinkPad T, L and W series laptops, so existing docks for those series are compatible.
