Lite-On IHAS124-04-KIT 24X DVD Burner Kit

This new internal half-height drive writes DVD±R at 24x and DVD±R DL at 8x. It also records CD-R at 48x and CD-RW at 24x. The bundle targets system builders who need an optical writer plus software and cabling in one package.

Nero 12 Essentials Software

The supplied Nero 12 Essentials program provides disc authoring and burning tools without a separate download. A 4-pin to dual SATA power cable lets one power connector feed two drives. Four mounting screws are also provided for installation.

SATA 1.5Gbps Interface with 1.5 MB Buffer

The drive connects via SATA with a burst transfer rate of 1.5Gbps and a 1.5 MB cache. Maximum read speeds reach 16x for DVD-ROM and 48x for CD-ROM. Supported transfer modes include PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2 and Ultra DMA mode 5. It does not support Blu-ray media or M-DISC recording.

Questions about this item

How often will the laser need replacement after heavy DVD burning?

The drive uses Smart-BURN and walking OPC to optimise write strategy, reducing laser wear during 24x DVD+R and 8x DVD+R DL sessions.

What is the first bottleneck during continuous 24x DVD recording?

The 1.5 MB buffer and Ultra DMA mode 5 limit sustained throughput before the SATA 1.5 Gbps link saturates.

How much vibration and noise does the ABS system add during all-day operation?

The ABS mechanism actively reduces vibration and noise while reading or writing at 48x CD-ROM or 16x DVD-ROM speeds.
