Internal DVD burner for desktop systems

This Lite-On half-height drive writes DVD±R and DVD±RW discs at 24x and handles dual-layer media at 8x. It reads and writes CD-R, CD-RW and DVD-RAM formats for broad legacy compatibility. The SATA interface fits standard desktop PCs, servers and workstations. A Nero 12 Essentials disc is included in the kit.

SATA interface limits cable length

The drive uses a standard SATA data connection and requires a SATA power plug. The kit supplies a 4-pin to dual SATA power cable that can feed two drives from one connector. Maximum SATA cable length is governed by the SATA specification, not by this drive. No special drivers are needed for Windows, Linux or other SATA-supported operating systems.

Simple 5.25 inch bay installation

Four mounting screws and a SATA data cable are provided for quick fitting into a standard half-height bay. The dual SATA power cable splits to power a second drive if required. Ensure the front bezel aligns with the case opening. The main issue is forgetting to connect both data and power cables before closing the case.

Questions about this item

Which kit version includes the Nero 12 Essentials disc and the 4-pin-to-dual-SATA power cable?

The IHAS124-04-KIT part number bundles the drive, a Nero 12 Essentials program disc, a 4-pin-to-dual-SATA power cable, four mounting screws and a SATA data cable.

What does the 24x DVD write speed actually deliver when burning a disc?

A 24x rating means the drive can write a single-layer DVD at up to 24x speed, while dual-layer DVD+R DL media is limited to 8x; actual throughput depends on disc quality and system load.

What does the SATA interface limit in a real build?

The SATA data connection caps the drive at the SATA bus throughput, so sustained read or write rates cannot exceed the host controller's SATA link speed.
