Internal DVD writer for data backup

The Lite-On iHAS124-14 is an internal DVD burner with a SATA interface and a black tray. It writes DVD+R and DVD-R at 24X and reads DVD-ROM at 16X. CD-R writing reaches 48X and CD-ROM reading matches that speed. The 512KB cache helps maintain a steady data stream during burns.

Verify SATA port and tray clearance before fitting

Check that a free SATA data port and matching power connector are available on the motherboard or controller. The tray-load mechanism needs enough front-panel depth to eject fully without obstruction. No extra software is required for basic operation under current operating systems.

Sustained burns stay within rated speeds without

The drive sustains its 24X DVD write rate across full single-layer discs and 8X on dual-layer media. Cache buffering smooths the data flow during long sessions. Access times of 200ms for DVD and 140ms for CD remain consistent during repeated reads.

Questions about this item

Does the iHAS124-14 come with cables, mounting screws or burning software, or is it just the bare drive?

The package contains the bare drive only; SATA data and power cables, mounting screws and any burning software must be purchased separately.

There is only one model listed — iHAS124-14 — so what should I check to confirm it fits my build?

Verify your system has a free SATA port and a 5.25-inch bay for the black tray-loading mechanism.

What does the 24X DVD write speed mean for actual burn time?

At 24X the drive writes DVD+R and DVD-R media at its maximum rated speed, cutting backup time compared with slower writers.
