Portable Bluetooth speaker for outdoor listeners

The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4 is a compact wireless speaker built for people who want 360-degree audio at the pool, beach or campsite. It pairs with smartphones and tablets over Bluetooth A2DP and plays for up to 14 hours on a single charge. The IP67 rating means it survives submersion in one metre of water for 30 minutes and resists dust completely. A built-in loop lets you clip it to a pack or shower caddy.

Bluetooth range and stereo pairing limits

The speaker maintains a wireless link up to 131 feet in open air, though walls and interference will reduce that distance. You can connect two source devices simultaneously and switch between them. Pairing a second WONDERBOOM 4 creates a wider soundstage; a second press enables true left and right stereo separation. Audio streams from one source to both units without cables.

IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating

The decisive specification is the IP67 certification, which guarantees the speaker works after 30 minutes under one metre of water and blocks fine dust. If you need a speaker that can be rinsed off or float in a pool, this rating covers it. Buyers who require deeper submersion protection or a formal ruggedness standard beyond IP67 should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the Blue version or another colour of the WONDERBOOM 4?

The Blue model 984-001877 shares the same 14‑hour battery, 86 dBC normal output and IP67 rating as other colours; choose Blue if you prefer that finish.

What does the 87 dBC outdoor boost figure mean when I am using the speaker outside?

Pressing the Outdoor Boost button raises the maximum sound level to 87 dBC, giving louder, clearer audio for open‑air environments such as the beach or park.

What does the Bluetooth 131 ft range cap in practice?

The 131 ft (40 m) wireless range lets you stream from up to two source devices simultaneously, though walls and interference will reduce the real‑world distance.
