What it is

The Logitech Ultimate Ears BOOM 4 is a portable Bluetooth speaker finished in Purple. It delivers 360-degree sound with deep bass and runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated for up to 15 hours of playback at 30 percent volume. The cylindrical design weighs 620 grams and measures 184 mm tall by 73 mm wide. It is built for listeners who want rugged, wireless audio indoors or out.

The spec that decides

The speaker carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is dustproof, waterproof to a depth of one metre, and floats if dropped in water. It also survives drops from 1.5 metres. If your use case involves pools, beaches, dusty trails or frequent knocks, this rating is the deciding factor; if you only need a desk speaker that stays dry, a less rugged model would suffice.

How it fits

Pair the BOOM 4 with any smartphone, tablet or device supporting Bluetooth A2DP for wireless playback up to 45 metres away. Charge via the included micro-USB cable and control tracks or trigger one-touch playlists for Spotify, Amazon Music or Apple Music directly from the speaker. The Ultimate Ears Boom app adds four preset EQ modes plus custom tuning, and PartyUp lets you link multiple compatible Ultimate Ears speakers for wider coverage.

Questions about this item

What does 85 dBC maximum sound level mean when the speaker is in a room?

At 85 dBC the speaker reaches a loudness comparable to busy city traffic, so it can fill a medium-sized room or outdoor area without distortion.

How does the Bluetooth connection and 45 metre range work in practice?

The speaker pairs with any device supporting Bluetooth A2DP and maintains a stable link up to 45 metres in open space, though walls and interference will reduce the usable distance.

What do the 184 mm height and 73 mm width mean for fitting the speaker in a bag or cup holder?

The cylinder measures 184 mm tall and 73 mm wide, so it slides into most bottle pockets, backpack side sleeves or standard car cup holders.
